Barbie dolls have been transformed into images of famous Ukrainian women: from Lesya Ukrainka to Alyona Alyona
Ukrainian designers recreated images of famous Ukrainian women based on Barbie dolls. The exhibition of dolls has already been presented in Odesa and Kyiv.
"Barbie: Ladies of Ukraine" project recreates images of 36 famous Ukrainian women. Among the characters embodied are: writer Lesya Ukrainka, actress Maria Zankovetska, artist Sonya Delone, modern singers Ruslana, Alyona Alyona, as well as volunteer and politician Yana Zinkevych and others.
According to Kukl'tura, the organizers of the exhibition went to various designers from all over Ukraine to recreate the images of Ukrainian women.
The organizers also said that they did not create new toys for the exhibition. They were based on ordinary Barbies, which were changed so that they resembled the images of famous Ukrainian women: in particular, they changed the colour of hair, hairstyles and makeup of dolls.
In Kyiv, the exhibition was supposed to last from March 16 to March 28, but because of quarantine, the organizers promise to extend the exhibition. Later, the collection of dolls will be shown in other cities of Ukraine.
