Continuing your education beyond high shool is essential if you want to get a good job

In a general viewpoint, higher education is necessary if you want to get a good job and that is why parents nowadays are so persistent in their efforts to send their kids to colleges and universities. They think that university education is an essential element of success.

However, I do not agree with this point of view. In my opinion, higher education is definitely one of the keys to success, but not the only key.

There are so many successful people, who have managed to become billionaires without graduating from university. Bill Gates started Microsoft when he was 19 and has since become one of the world’s wealthiest people. Mark Zuckerberg owns one of the most highly-valued tech companies in the U.S. Steve Jobs founded Apple in his garage.

What do these three people have in common? None of them finished college; in fact, Bill Gates is considered “Harvard’s most successful dropout.”

Nevertheless, not everyone is destined to become a billionaire. Someone might dream of becoming a doctor, someone else – a lawyer. And obviously, you can’t become a doctor without a medical school, or a lawyer without law school.

So, at the end of the day, this is a very subjective question. It mostly depends on what you want to do in life. But there is one thing I can say for sure, and that is, that university education is only one of the keys to a successful life.
